Course Planning
We are working on Course Planning this week. I will be taking you out of English class to discuss with you courses for your final high school year - Grade 12! I will review graduation requirements to help you in choosing your courses. If you already know what is required for entrance into post-secondary, please choose your courses accordingly.
Also, please submit your grad transitions assignments to Mr. Harapnuick asap.
Thank you and see you in English class!

There's Nothing Wrong with Hard Work

In the midst of interim reports, I realize that you Grade 11's have come a long way. In Grade 9, there were probably double the number of students with 3 or more n's. That's amazing. Most of you have the capability and desire to work hard and to succeed in your courses. This work ethic will serve you well in life and it will get you where you want to go. If you tend closer to the lazy side, you will pay the consequences for this.
The end is near. In less than two years, you will hopefully be graduating and beginning a life as a young adult. If you work hard and get the best grades possible, you will have many more doors open to you. If you slack off, you may not graduate, or you may be playing "catch-up" in summer school. The choice is yours. Personally, I would love to see all of you graduate and it will be a proud moment for all of us. Hard work is what will make this happen and there's nothing wrong with hard work.

Good Luck with Your Exams!
Hello Everyone!
I am thinking about all of you and wishing you well with your exams. Study hard and make sure you get enough rest. Try not to get stressed out. If you've studied - trust yourself that you know the material and that you'll do well.
Thank you for your cooperation with Course Planning - Remember, I'll be seeing you again in early February so that we can download your course requests onto the computer. Take time to make sure these are the courses you want and please choose an alternate course just in case you can't get your first choice.
Many of you have been asking me when my last day is . . . if all goes well I'll be staying until February 19. Not sure who will take my place yet, but I'm sure it'll be someone good!
I'll miss you and be thinking about you - hoping everyone makes it through and gets to Grade 11. Many of you are working hard and keeping up with your attendance - I'm proud of your efforts - keep it up!
Please stop by or leave me a note if there is anything you need before I leave for maternity.
Take care everyone!

Attendance, Interims, and End of Term 1
Hello Everyone!
I took a hiatus from blogging but now I'm back! Just to up date you, I've had a look at all your interims and most students did really well this term - I am hoping this will translate into high marks for 1st term. If you received three N's or more, we need to find out what will help you succeed. Be prepared to meet with Mr. H and I.
Attendance has improved since last year and this makes me very happy! Remember, Grade 10 is the toughest year. If you want to make it through, attendance and hard work is mandatory. Set a good example to your friends and help each other!
Term 1 ends November 27th, so now's the time to get your homework in, study hard for your tests and meet with your teachers to find out how you are doing.
I love when you tell me that you are doing well. Keep it up!

The Report Card Blues
Hi Grade 9's!I've had the opportunity to meet with all students who had 2 or more failing subjects in the hope of helping you improve for next term. Don't despair - the best lessons are learned from our biggest mistakes. The best news is that you have two more terms to make up your marks for the courses you failed in first term. Learn from those friends of yours that did well this term. Ask them how they study, how much time they spend on homework and what motivates them to do well. Better yet, study together and take advantage of the Home Work Club and Math Tutor Club. Anything worth having is worth working for. Can you honestly say that you have given your best effort this term? What can you do to improve?
If you've given your best effort and you're are still doing poorly on your courses, ask your teachers what they recommend or come by and chat with me. Maybe we can come up with a solution.
Remember, consistent effort will bring you to success!
Congratulations to those of you who made Honour Roll, Effort Honour Roll and the Prinicpal's List! Stop by my office for a treat. Let's celebrate . . .
