Celebration of Excellence on Friday, April 12

Grade 9's,

Congratulations on many of you completing Term 2 with excellent marks. Keep working hard - only a few more months left.  To those of you who have had some struggles, it's not too late to turn things around.  Get working, ask questions, seek help, and do what it takes to pass all your courses.  You can do it!  You can succeed!

South Asian Family Assn Scholarship (SAFA)

Gr. 12 Scholarship: South Asian Family Assn (SAFA). 3 x $1000 awards for South Asians; one each for Excellence in Academics, Excellence in Community Involvement or Excellence in Fine Arts. Deadline is June 14/12. Go to http://safa.ca under "Youth Initiatives" or email mailto:info@safa.ca

Engineers and Geoscientists Scholarships

If you are planning to study Engineering or Geoscience at UBC, SFU, UVic, BCIT, or UNBC, you can apply for an Entrance Scholarhsip valued at $2,500, direct to the University.

Also, there is a $1,000 scholarship for those of you going to college and will be in the engineering or geoscience transfer program.

Girls Camp and Scholarships

Gr. 10 - 12 Girls. Camp Ignite: A FREE four-day intro to the world of firefighting, mentorship and inspiration to follow their dreams (whatever they are). Learn about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. Aug. 9 to 12. Open to girls in grades 10-12 (ages 15-18). Deadline June 2/12. http://campignite.com/.


Gr. 12. Guruparan and Winsor Scholarships (2x$6000): Academics, well-rounded, and pursuing a degree or diploma in commerce/finance/business. Aimed at those whose parents/guardians do not have a post-secondary education or received their post-secondary education outside of Canada. 2012 Maple Leaf Youth Awards

The awards are designed to recognize well-rounded British Columbian students who demonstrate an understanding of Canadian identity and exceptional achievements in one or more of the following:

. Outstanding achievements in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Applied Arts or Digital Media
. Exemplary contributions to the community – locally, nationally, and or internationally
. Exceptional athletic achievement

The Essay
A 500 word essay on the following topic is required:
What does it mean to be a Canadian citizen in the 21st century?
Three Awards will be Given
$1,500 for the first place Recipient
$1,000 for the second place Recipient
$750 for the third place Recipient

B.C. Electrical Association 2012 Bursary Program

If you are planning to pursue a career in one of the following areas: Electrical, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, and Business, you may apply to receive a bursary of $500-$1000 towards post-secondary. Please see Ms. A if you are interested in applying.
