October 1 is the date when you can start applying for the University transfer program at Langara. You can apply through www.applybc.ca .

TRACE2 - Research Project on Marijuana at UBC

There is an opportunity for students to get a job as a co-researcher at UBC. This is a great opportunity for those interested in the medical field. You will get paid to research the effects of marijuana and to create a personal health message. The project is for 6 weeks and takes place after school. If interested, please see Ms. Alvares.

Language Challenge Exams

If you are interested in writing a Challenge Exam, you must complete your application and give it to me by October 28. The exams are on January 21, 22, 28, and 29, 2012. Please see me for an application form or go to www.deltasd.bc.ca/studentcentre/Challenge.asp and download or print out your application form.

SAT - College Exams for the U.S.

If you are planning to attend college or university in the U.S.A., please see me. I have important information on the SAT which is required by most post-secondary institutions in the U.S.

Loran Award Scholarship

If you are interested in applying for the Loran Award Scholarship for post-secondary, go to www.loranaward.ca . This website provides all the information on the award. Please see me if you have any questions.

LPI Dates

If you are interested in taking the Language Proficiency Index exam at John Oliver, the exam will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2011 at 3pm in the CAF. You must register online for the exam at http://www.lpitest.ca/ by November 22nd at the latest.

There will be another exam on April 19, 2012. Registration will open January 2012.

Most post secondary institutions require the LPI if you have not completed at least 3 years of school in Canada or in English. You must check your college or university for their language requirements.

Also, there is a scholarship from TD Canada Trust. I have application forms, if you are interested. applications must be received by October 31, 2011.

Study and Go Abroad Fair at Vancouver Convention Centre

If you are interested in pursuing your post seondary education outside of Canada, come to the Vancouver Convention Centre at Canada Place, on Tuesday, October 4th, from 1-6pm.

Post Secondary Information and Dates

Students, if you haven't done so, you can research the colleges and universities you would like to attend and begin the process of applying for admission. Here are important dates to keep in mind for applying:

UBC - now accepting early admission and you can do this online.

BCIT - begins Oct. 1 until program is filled.

Langara - begins Oct. 1 until program is filled.
